10 Clean Wins Over Top WWE Stars That Were Totally Wasted

2. Jack Swagger D. Randy Orton (Extreme Rules 2010)

Widely regarded as one of the worst World Heavyweight Champions in WWE history, Jack Swagger was thrust into a position he wasn't at all prepared for in 2010. He was a solid wrestler, but lacked the charisma and star power required to be the company's top guy, which made his successful Money In The Bank cash-in on John Cena extremely confusing.

Swagger was 'The Guy,' but he certainly wasn't booked in a manner befitting one of the company's top champions. He was made to look like a loser throughout his run, and it started at Extreme Rules, when his clean victory over Randy Orton was immediately sullied by a post-match RKO, putting the heat back on 'The Viper'.

Jack's momentum was destroyed straight away, and he reaped nothing from beating one of the most decorated wrestlers in the company. The rest of his reign was a disaster, with big Show taking an intentional DQ at Over The Limit, before Swagger dropped the belt to Rey Mysterio at Fatal 4-way. He was never treated like a main eventer again, and while Jack definitely wasn't cut out for the role WWE had positioned him in, their decision to put him over Orton cleanly makes no sense given the aftermath.
