10 CM Punk Ironies He Doesn't Want You To Realise

8. WWE Failed Him With Creative... 8 Titles And 2 MITB Briefcases Say Otherwise

CM Punk was sounding off about creative way before he left WWE. Just take a viewing of 2012's 'Best In The World' DVD, where the star repeatedly bemoans his lack of creative opportunities. This was one disenchanted wrestler, who constantly felt like he was marginalised by the company. The irony comes into play when you consider Punk's championship haul. He won eight titles in total - one ECW championship, three world heavyweight titles, one tag title reign with Kofi Kingston, two WWE championship reigns and one intercontinental title. Plus he had two consecutive Money In The Bank briefcase wins, giving him crowning glories to crow about at WrestleMania 24 and 25. That's hardly bad going. It isn't as if the creative department looked past him - the opposite was taking place! Punk was winning titles and achievements throughout his time in WWE, the majority of them coming BEFORE his 2011 breakout year. Yes, we can understand his creative frustrations, but to cry a river about it wasn't really fair. In contrast, a guy like Tyler Reks had cause to complain about creative between his 2008 to 2012 WWE run. Reks was a guy who got no titles. Punk in contrast was one of the most consistently used and invested stars of that same period.
