A painful irony that Punk perhaps realises now, is that if he hadn't quit, fate would've probably delivered him the WWE Title. The reason to believe this is the way WWE main event scene crumbled without him. Daniel Bryan got injured and had to resign the WWE Championship. WWE were then left in a position with no champion, eventually having to put the belt back on mr.reliable John Cena. We reckon that at the very least, Punk would've been in a considerable main event push. The void Bryan left still needs filling, a strong number two guy is lacking right now. If Punk had stayed around, he'd at the very least be in some major matches. Headline bouts against Bray Wyatt, Cesaro and even Cena would've been probable. He'd definitely have been featured in the Money In The Bank WWE Title ladder match. It's ironic that the number two spot he thought he'd lost to Bryan, has actually ended up open for the majority of the year.
