10 Common WWE Things You Won't See In AEW
8. Jobbers/ Local Enhancement Talent
As stated before wins and losses are going to be a huge part of the narrative in AEW. Therefore, don't expect to see Jack and John Doe taking on The Dark Order in a squash match very often, if at all.
How do you count that as a victory, when those competitors will likely never have another match inside of an AEW ring? It will lessen the value of telling a story of an undefeated streak, if it is muddled by not using actual competition.
You could make the argument of squash matches in legitimate sports like boxing and MMA, where a young up-and-comer is placed against what should be an easy win. But that feels cheap. even though you can point to moments like Kimbo Slice losing and say it can happen. Put that in the world of kayfabe where everyone knows the results are predetermined and the jobbers never win?
Now it feels cheaper than public bathroom toilet paper.
It works in WWE because the records aren't kept, and also partly because characters are built as quickly as they disappear at times. So building momentum with quick and cheap wins has its place. But, with AEW placing an emphasis on a faux combat sport style to their presentation, jobbers simply don't seem to fit in.
And neither will...
