10 Complete Wastes Of WWE Pay-Per-View Time

5. Jerry Lawler Vs. Michael Cole (WrestleMania XXVII)

Technically, this is the only actual pro wrestling match to be featured on this list. There's a case to be made that every bout has some merit, but that depends on a number of factors. Firstly, fans must want to see the bout actually take place. Secondly, there's no way an announcer who doesn't really wrestle should be taking up over fifteen minutes of time on the biggest show of the year. That's exactly what happened when Michael Cole met Jerry 'The King' Lawler at WrestleMania XXVII in 2011. A feud between the pair had been raging for months, and Cole had been cultivating a heel character for close to a full year by the time the match went down. Looking utterly ridiculous in his orange ring gear, Cole was hamming it up to the best of his abilities. As a shorter attraction on the card, it might even have worked, but Cole vs. Lawler went almost as long as Randy Orton vs. CM Punk. In fact, it was longer than several other matches on the card, including Rey Mysterio vs. Cody Rhodes. Nobody wanted this, and Michael Cole himself even later admitted during interviews that he didn't think it could succeed since they were given so much time.
