10 Completely Stupid Things In Wrestling That Heels Always Do

4. How Did I Used To Do This?

It's understandable why, in a wrestling context, a hero would swap a white hat for black and take a shortcut to the money, fame and glory that can come with being a sports entertainment megastar.

However, what makes substantially less sense is how the former honourable talent seemingly loses the ability to unleash the skills and techniques that crafted their initial success.

CM Punk began his spectacular 434 day WWE Title reign in 2011 in honourable fashion, unearthing Howard Finkel to announce him to the ring at Madison Square Garden to celebrate on the company's holiest ground. Driven to desperation eight months later, he turned to the dark side, led specifically by his bond with Paul Heyman, to cling on to his prized possession as long as he possibly could.

It was during this time he took every possible shortcut to retain his title. Literally scratching and clawing his way through victories, he employed help from The Shield, Heyman himself, and even corrupt referees in matches against John Cena, Ryback and The Rock.

At no point did he revert to being everything he'd said he was for years, and everything he'd tried to be in those first six months. Sacrificing far too much for chicanery, the 'Best In The World' barely grabbed a hold.
