People rag on WCW Backstage Assault for having the cheek to exclude a wrestling ring from the game, but at least EA's product had some moves and grappling action. Meanwhile, 2003's WWE Crush Hour was vehicular combat Twisted Metal style, albeit with all your favourites like The Rock and Brock Lesnar behind the wheel of various death machines.

The plot was something else, man.

Vince McMahon had seized control of media, and so his superstars appeared in every TV show, movie and commercial people saw. Crush Hour was the main attraction (replacing Raw as a flagship, apparently), but that was only the tip of the iceberg. Kane also donned a chef's outfit to run his own cooking show: 'BBQ Cooking With Kane'.

The world would be rather different if Kane released his own sauces rather than good ol' JR. There's a brilliant scene in-game that sees the 'Big Red Machine' accidentally barbecue some dynamite that promptly explodes. Jonathan Coachman's voiceover makes this seem perfectly normal - maybe it was in WWE catering at the time (that'd explain the crappy scorch marks on Kane when he unmasked).

Oops, tiny bitching session there. Sorry!
