10 Contenders For The First AEW Midcard Championship

Maxwell Jacob Friedman is going places.

MJF was hand-picked by The Elite as one of AEW's future stars and he is more than living up to that. He's one of the best promos in the entire business and has already made a name for himself with a worldwide audience.

Friedman is definitely being primed for a main event run soon, but he's still very young - 23 in fact. He's also not as over in the ring as he is on the mic, which is something only time and practice will fix.

Putting a midcard championship on MJF would be a great way to keep him on TV and could help further his intricate storyline with Cody. Rhodes could mentor MJF to the championship and then inadvertently cost him it later on. This could lead to MJF turning on Cody, which is definitely the direction they're going in.

The Salt of the Earth is destined for greatness in AEW, and this championship would be a great next step.
