10 Contenders For The First AEW Midcard Championship
8. Darby Allin
For any 22-year-old to be as successful as Darby Allin is disgusting.
The Seattle-born star made his name in Evolve, and is now one of the most popular stars in AEW. He got a showcase match against Cody at Fyter Fest and was the first man to challenge for Chris Jericho's AEW World Championship.
Despite coming up short against Le Champion, Allin impressed big time with unique offence and his "Never Say Die" persona. He will undoubtedly be challenging for that title once again and will probably win it some day. In the meantime, another championship reign could be on the cards.
Allin's stock is very high right now and that would do wonders in putting over a new championship. AEW could tell the story of Allin coming up short against Jericho, only to redeem himself by capturing a secondary title. This could even lead to a Champion vs Champion rematch further down the line.
Also, if AEW ever did a custom belt design, Darby's would look cool as hell.
