10 Contenders To Replace Daniel Bryan As WWE SmackDown General Manager
7. Lana
Lana has been a total bust as an in-ring competitor. Was any other outcome likely? You can’t simply throw a performer into the ring without experience and adequate training behind them, no matter how much you want them to succeed. 2017 has proved what was obviously true all along - Lana is not a professional wrestler.
She may not be a wrestler, but she is still a more than compelling on-screen figure. Lana excelled as the manager of Rusev, where her character focused more on business and success than prancing and preening. WWE needs to cater to the strengths of its roster, and Lana’s strength lies outside the ring.
WWE has toyed with non-McMahon female authority figures in the past. AJ Lee had a hit and miss run as RAW GM, while Tiffany had a forgettable one in charge of ECW. Lana is a different beast to those two however - she seems tailor made for such a position.
