10 Craziest Things That Ever Happened After WWE SmackDown Went Off The Air

2. Official Superkick Party!

It's easy to forget, but wrestling referees are people too.

Sure, they might be made of glass and have the peripheral vision of a blind mole, but they are still individuals with hopes, dreams, and wants. And, after SmackDown on the 28 August 2018, one referee really wanted to superkick Rusev.

Danilo Anfibio, a former wrestler prior to 2013, was attempting to keep peace during a six-man tag between AJ Styles & The Usos and Baron Corbin & Rusev Day. Anfibio clearly got the itch to compete again, because part way through the match he decided to take his shirt off and join in.

Standing alongside The Usos, the ref delivered a Superkick Shawn Michaels would have been proud of, flattening The Bulgarian Brute. He then pins Rusev as Styles, who is wearing Anfibio's referee shirt around his head, makes the count.

Unfortunately, because Rusev apparently hates fun, he kicked out at 2, but one of the Usos had managed to keep English down for the win. Gotta protect yourself, brother.

Wrestling referees are sorely lacking in character these days, so it's nice to see that they do have personalities, even if their only allowed to share them off air.
