We know what you're thinking, that's just Edge and Christian, nothing crazy about those two as a tag-team. Ultimately the story behind them and their first formation was nothing like the E&C segments most remembered from the Attitude era. Edge debuted as a singles wrestler in June, but it wouldn't be until September that Christian debuted, when he distracted Edge in his match with Owen Hart at In Your House: Breakdown 1998. Christian and Gangrel, or Vampire Warrior as he was briefly known, continued to feud with Edge until he was eventually persuaded to form the stable known as The Brood. The gimmick was that the trio were vampires, symbolized by Gangrel's chalice of blood he'd often bring to the ring, the use of red entrance lights, or when the stable would 'bathe' an opponent in blood. It's crazy that not only was this an approved gimmick, but Edge and Christian actually got over as talents regardless of this - something this nonsensical and gimmicky would sink most tag-teams. The stupidity wouldn't stop there, as Gangrel defected to manage the Hardy Boyz in their feud, thus creating The New Brood. The Brood is a nuts idea on paper, but ultimately it made one of the best tag-teams duos that we've ever seen in the WWE.
