If you look at every tag-team ever formed in the WWE, a good percentage of them probably have something to do with nationality, place of origin, blood relations, race or culture. Teams like The Wild Samoans, The Quebecers, The Mexicools and Kai-En-Tai are all clear examples of this trend in action. This gets a little boring when wrestling's been using the old nationality instead of personality shtick since the dawn of time. The team of Regal and Tajiri couldn't be more of an opposite to this rule and that's why they were such a welcome breath of fresh air compared to tag-teams of the past. Putting the hard British technician Regal with Japanese high-flier Tajiri was a crazy idea, but in this instance, it was just crazy enough to work. The two initially met as a comic duo, in 2000-2001 Regal was then playing a role as WWF 'Goodwill Ambassador', with Tajiri stepping in as his comedy sidekick/assistant. It wasn't until much later in 2005 that the two went for a run at the titles as Regal's former partner Eugene was injured. The duo had some great promos and segments, as well as some good tag-team matches.
