10 Crazy Wrestler Truths We Just Learned
6. Bret Hart Offered To Be An AEW Agent... And They Said No!
With his stellar work evidently inspiring much of the All Elite roster and the icon himself even unveiling the AEW World Championship for the very first time at Double or Nothing 2019, Bret 'The Hitman' Hart's presence will forever be felt in Tony Khan's company.
However, if the wrestling legend had it his way, he likely would have been even more involved with WWE's biggest rivals.
That's according to pro wrestling writer Brian R. Solomon, with the author of Blood and Fire explaining on Twitter recently that a conversation with 'The Hitman' revealed that Bret had actually offered to agent for AEW at one point.
When I recently interviewed Bret Hart for my book, he told me that he offered to agent for them, but they only wanted to bring him in as a manager like Tully, Arn, Jake, etc. Imagine having the ability to have Bret Hart coach your talent and saying, no just be a TV character.— Brian R. But, instead of bringing in one of the greatest minds the business has ever seen to coach and work with their talent, AEW told Hart that they would only want him to work as a manager if he were to become All Elite.
Hart did tell Lucha Libre Online last year that he would still be open to working with AEW talents before noting how he was very much happily retired and enjoying being at home. But it's still remarkable to learn that one of the true GOATs of the wrestling industry had their offer to guide the next generation turned down by TK and his team.
