10 Crazy Wrestler Truths We Just Learned
2. John Cena's First WWE Deal Only Just Covered His Rent After Living In His Car
He may be living a rather glamorous life now, regularly getting paid to star alongside the likes of Vin Diesel and Idris Elba in blockbuster features after an unprecedented spell as the face of WWE, but things definitely weren't always this way for John Cena.
Jumping all the way back to the time before he landed in WWE's OVW developmental territory, Cena noted a few years back that he was actually choosing to live in his car whilst trying to make it in the fitness world in Los Angeles.
Then, after recently revealing on the Hart to Heart show how he also tried and failed to become a cop, Cena upgraded to living in a garage for a few months before WWE eventually came calling.
And when he was finally offered a deal with the biggest wrestling promotion on the planet, the eventual legend's contract saw him earn just $12,000-a-year.
The future multiple-time World Champion's rent at the time was $1,000-a-month, meaning all that WWE dollar went straight on keeping a roof over his head to achieve his new dream.
Fast forward a few decades, though, and it's safe to say that all that time spent sleeping in his Lincoln Continental, showering at work, and not having any money in his pocket certainly paid off for this hard-working icon.
