10 Crazy WWE Raw Moments You Totally Don't Remember

5. Chris Jericho Kidnaps Chyna

WWE were never ones for taste and decency when it came to Chyna.

While her impact on women’s wrestling shouldn’t be downplayed, the Ninth Wonder of the World was regularly the subject of wide-scale ridicule throughout her run with the company. From tasteless gender jokes to horrendous angles like the Mark Henry love interest story, Chyna wasn’t always treated like a serious competitor, and there was nothing enjoyable about her 1999 feud with Chris Jericho.

Chyna was Intercontinental Champion at the time, and she and Miss Kitty had just cost Jericho a match with Gangrel by… throwing tampons into the ring. Seriously.

Furious, Jericho decided that the best thing to do was to kidnap Chyna and leave her tied-up in an undisclosed backstage location. Having recently lost the IC gold to Chyna, Jericho grabbed a hammer, and demanded she admit that the win was a fluke. Things got worse from there, and in something resembling a low budget, B-grade Saw scene, Jericho brought the hammer down on Chyna’s hand.

It displayed a vile side to Jericho’s character that fans hadn’t seen before, and Chyna’s blood-curdling shrieks were genuinely uncomfortable to listen to. WWE would be crucified if they aired such a segment today, and rightly so.
