10 Creative Ways To Save Failing WWE Gimmicks

9. Revert Wade Barrett Back To 'Bad News'

The 'King' Barrett gimmick was awful, and the way WWE handled it was a disgrace. Put plainly, there was absolutely no point in booking Wade Barrett to win the 2015 King Of The Ring tournament. Previously, the once-cherished tournament had been a noose round the neck of Sheamus too. For Barrett, it plunged him to new depths, becoming an afterthought almost immediately. Before he was saddled with the royal nonsense, Barrett was doing his best to make the 'Bad News Barrett' gimmick work. In fairness to the guy, even when WWE weren't fully behind it, he did manage to elicit a response from the crowd with his, 'I'm afraid I have some bad news' shtick. That should be identified and encouraged. Instead, WWE made him a phony King, stripping away any serious characteristics. There's no doubting that the Englishman is talented. When given the chance, he's one of the most well-spoken mic men in the entire company. In addition to that, he's also highly accomplished inside the ring. WWE baffled everyone with the 'King' gimmick, when they really should have been focusing on something that was already working for the man.
