10 Cringeworthy Pre-Russo WCW Moments

1. The Shockmaster

There may never be a more cringeworthy wrestling moment than the infamous debut of The Shockmaster.

Portrayed by poor Fred Ottman, who had played Tugboat and Typhoon in the WWF, the character was supposed to be missing piece of the puzzle for the babyface team in the upcoming War Games match at Fall Brawl 1993.

At Clash Of The Champions XXIV, The Shockmaster was set to debut. Tragically, according to Dusty Rhodes, one of the production team had decided to nail a plank of wood across the bottom part of the wall he was supposed to crash through.

Following a rehearsal, that crew member had repaired the set, and that would have grave consequences.

When the time was right, The Shockmaster burst through the prop, tripping over the wood and up-ending himself onto the floor. The crude, glittery Stormtrooper helmet he was wearing fell off, ruining the moment entirely.

Ottman's big moment had been a complete nightmare, and the gimmick had no route back following that mistake.
