10 Cringeworthy Pre-Russo WCW Moments

2. The White Castle Of Fear

During the early part of the 1990's, WCW strayed even further from their Southern wrestling roots, producing several mini-movies to promote major pay-per-views.

Earlier at Halloween Havoc 1992, Jake Roberts vs. Sting would be hyped by the infamous 'Spin The Wheel, Make The Deal' vignette. Similarly, Fall Brawl 1993 featured another such hype package.

They were nothing compared to 'The White Castle Of Fear'. Coming across like the rejected script of a Jean-Claude Van Damme movie, the build up to SuperBrawl 1993 in February of that year was truly epic.

Invited by Big Van Vader to a party at his castle, Sting took a helicopter ride up the mountains and into a cave. There, women sat around feasting, whilst a little person called Cheatum (who was present throughout WCW's fascination with these skits) encouraged Sting to "play the game".

That 'game' turned out to be a tug-o-war with Vader, overseen by Harley Race.

At SuperBrawl, Sting and Vader met in a 'White Castle Of Fear Strap' Match, but the over-the-top build was genuinely baffling.
