Face Bobby Roode is alright. Heel Bobby Roode is pure money.

The 'Glorious' gimmick demands being a cocky douchebag and just doesn't translate well at all in its current incarnation. With Bobby having to make himself sympathetic to the audience, he shreds any potential to flesh out the character as he did down in NXT. As a heel, you can make layers of greatness in his character by showing his motivations, greed, and why he considers himself to be so glorious. As a face, the gimmick is basically just a catchphrase.

Vince likely heard the enormous crowd reactions for Roode, and since he isn't a personal pet project, did what he figured the crowd wanted by making him babyface. If Adam Cole is proof of anything though, it's that heels can be incredibly over with the fans while still being great heels.

This new tag team with Chad Gable may seem promising, but there will always be more money to get out of this man as a bad guy.
