10 Despicably Villainous UFC Moments
5. Chael Sonnen Vs. Brazil
Over the years, Chael Sonnen has found himself involved in two legendary feuds with Brazilian MMA icons, with both of his rivals not appreciating his views on their country.
One particular attack came during a press conference in the lead-up to his second clash with Anderson Silva, in which Sonnen claimed that he was bringing soap in his suitcase as a gift to the country. He also threw stones at his rival by claiming that while Sonnen was growing up around technology, Silva was playing in the mud in Brazil.
This vocal sparring didn't work out too well for 'Uncle Chael' as he lost twice to Silva inside of the Octagon.
So, you'd have thought he'd learnt his lesson, right?
Well...
Wanderlei Silva hadn't forgotten about Sonnen's comments on his homeland by the time they were both announced as the coaches on The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3 and made it known how upset he was about them. Surely, now was the time for Sonnen to apologise for his actions and start over.
True to form, that didn't happen and instead he refused, which led to numerous heated exchanges between the two and one particularly nasty brawl on the show.
Silva wasn't able to get Sonnen in the Octagon to punish him for his villainous words and it's probably for the best, as we may have seen the last of the former NCAA Division I wrestler if a scheduled fight had actually taken place.
