Sheamus' Money In The Bank briefcase win raised a lot of eyebrows back in June. The decision to grant the Dubliner a "guaranteed title shot" seemed a desperation move from the WWE booking team, intent on avoiding the criticism that their preferred option (Roman Reigns) would have drawn. If anything, Sheamus is an even worse prospect in this regard, drawing apathy rather than discontent. Prior to winning the briefcase, Sheamus was rebuilding his reputation in a midcard feud with Dolph Ziggler - although his new heel gimmick was hardly setting the world on fire. Many suspect he is being used merely to transition the briefcase to a better candidate. Dean Ambrose would be the likeliest and most popular suspect, with fans enjoying his main event babyface run. Alternatives include the previously mentioned Reigns, and even John Cena, who is currently one World Title reign away from equalling Ric Flair's record of 16.
