And we have to talk about this one again, great. A staple in all negative discussions surrounding WWE, this outrageous segment will always live on as one of the most quintessentially Attitude era moments ever; so unbelievable it will never fail at sucking in viewers, but at the same so very wrong, one has to wonder how it ever got approved.

This was emblematic of the state of women’s wrestling in WWE during the period and helped carve the everlasting image of Vince most wrestling fans have of the boss. In early 2001, the wrestling landscape was about to change irreversibly with Vince purchasing WCW and the Invasion storyline about to kick off soon. The latter of course is famous for being one of the biggest let-downs in wrestling history.

Anyhow, during this time Vince was feuding with most of his family. Including his wife Linda, whom he had reduced to a comatose patient with drug administrations. As always, the police were not bothered by criminal offenses being committed on WWE television. As his wife suffered, Vince began an affair with Trish Stratus. Because that Genetic Jackhammer needs work.

Then, for some reason, he turned on Trish, siding with daughter Stephanie who up until this point had been opposing his mistreatment of their family. Confused? Well it gets even worse. Because the following week, Trish arrived on Raw and instead of being angry, begged for Vince’s forgiveness. From here, it escalated into the height of socially ignorant, ethically unaware storytelling.

In a blatant giveaway of Vince’s porn search history, he ordered Trish to get on all fours and bark like a dog. Next, he made her strip off her clothes and stand half naked for the crowd. What’s worse, it didn’t even elicit the desired reaction. The audience was absolutely loving it. WWE have been justifiably slammed for it ever since and even the footage has been removed from places, but nothing can take away how awful and unnecessary this whole stunt was.
