10 Disappointing Wrestling Reveals That Let EVERYBODY Down

The last months of WCW were a sad, sad sight for wrestling fans.

Only three years removed from its status as wrestling's number one production, WCW's fall from grace was as swift as it was painful. A series of inept creative and business decisions culminated in the company closing doors for good on March 26, 2001, and Sin 2001's main event proved emblematic of the company's struggles.

The match itself was promoted as Scott Steiner defending the WCW Championship against Sid Vicious, Jeff Jarrett and a "mystery opponent". Going back to watch the PPV, you can hear the audience's disappointment when that man of mystery turned out to be Road Warrior Animal.

For context, this would be like WWE headlining a PPV with a surprise appearance from D-Von Dudley. D-Von and Animal were both important parts of legendary tag teams back in the day, but that day passed a long time ago. A visibly out-of-shape tag wrestler was not going to turn WCW's fortunes around, and Animal's reveal was just another reason for the company's dwindling fanbase to see what the competition was up to.

To quote wrestling's greatest mathematician - "Change the channel to the WWF and watch Stone Cold...because WCW sucks!"
