10 Disappointing Wrestling Reveals That Let EVERYBODY Down

4. DDP Stalks His Way Into WWE

In Mick Foley's seminal first autobiography, wrestling's cuddliest icon lamented that of all the ways WCW could have brought him back into the fold after injury - either as a retribution-seeking babyface or a sadistic, unchained monster - WCW lumbered him with an utterly nonsensical, Z-level soap opera storyline. To the surprise of no-one, it failed utterly and left Mick falling down the ladder of relevancy.

Years later, WWE took a page out of their vanquished rivals' playbook when introducing Diamond Dallas Page to their audience, with similar results.

We'll give this to the WWE - when fans were speculating how DDP would make his entrance in WWE, few predicted that it would be as a deranged stalker tormenting the Undertaker's then-wife Sara. Fewer still would have guessed the former WCW man's motivation - that he thought a match with the Undertaker would "Make (him) famous!".

It's safe to say that WWE fans were on different wavelengths/drugs to WWE Creative, as the idea bombed horribly - especially as DDP ended up getting annihilated by the Undertaker, as well as Sara herself. Even the most stalwart WWE fan knew who Page was (as seen by the huge pop on his reveal), and that he deserved better than being a whipping post for Undertaker to work out his insecurities on.
