10 Disastrously Timed WWE Injuries

2. Daniel Bryan

Daniel Bryan

As unlikely a WWE Champion as they come, the story of Daniel Bryan's organic rise up the ladder has become stuff of legend. People really pushed for Bryan to be on top, and that fan support was rewarded at WrestleMania XXX when Daniel became WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

The joy wouldn't last though. Just a few months later, Bryan himself revealed that he'd have to take time off for arm surgery. Then, WWE decided to strip him of the title in June and move on without Daniel when it became clear he'd be on the sidelines for an extended period.

Lightning would strike twice in 2015. This time, Bryan was forced to retire for good and vacate the Intercontinental Title.

The retirement speech may feel more historic over time, but it's the 2014 vacation of the WWE Title that still feels more cruel. After striving to reach the top for so many years, one of wrestling's greatest ever workers had his moment gloomily snatched away by injury.

Once is bad enough, but twice is just insulting.
