10 Disturbing WCW Nitro Moments You Totally Don't Remember

10. Rick Steiner Threatens Chucky (12 October 1998)

Or, just laugh at the thought of tough-guy wrestler Rick Steiner threatening to kick a fictional horror doll's ass all over the arena.

On the 12 October 1998 edition of Nitro, that's exactly what happened. Chucky, who had a new movie to promote, appeared on screen as Gene Okerlund conducted an in-ring promo with Steiner. Cue the threats, cue the silliness and cue the brief flirtation with wrestling's first ever Wrestler vs. Toy match.

If you're thinking it wouldn't have been inconceivable for WCW to try this, you're right. They didn't though. Not even they were stupid enough to think Steiner vs. Chucky was a license to print money, and so we'd never get that Halloween Havoc ordeal that, for the briefest of moments, seemed possible.

Steiner did encourage lil' Chuck to bring his plastic butt to the ring for a whipping, and he did so without any shred of humour. To Rick, this was 100% real. How dare a chargrilled doll from pop culture interrupt his promo time.
