10 Dominant NXT Forces (That Were Ruined Immediately On WWE's Main Roster)
1. Drew McIntyre
Yes, I know, I know. He is the current WWE Champion and is one of, if not the featured guy on Monday Night Raw. But it wasn't all smooth sailing to get to this point.
After failing to live up to his potential during his initial run with the company, Drew was released in 2014. He then went on a tear of the independent scene and completely reinvented himself as a bonafide main event star that WWE needed to take another look at.
And they did when they re-signed him and sent him to NXT in 2017. The new and improved Drew McIntyre wasted no time in establishing himself as a star and quickly captured the NXT Championship. Once his NXT run came to an end, it felt inevitable that he would return to the main roster to become the superstar people had always expected him to be.
His call-up from NXT saw him align with Dolph Ziggler in a move that caught many off-guard. Drew was involved in prominent storylines with Dolph and Shane McMahon, but he was always off in the background instead of being front and center.
It was obvious that Drew needed to be his own man if he was going to be the main event star we all knew he could be, and thankfully that did eventually happen.
McIntyre went on to win the 2020 Royal Rumble and then defeat Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 36 to realise his destiny and become WWE Champion, two years after his NXT call-up.
