10 Dream Wrestling Matches That Were Huge Disappointments

7. Ric Flair vs Hulk Hogan - 1991

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJA_BYb_eFI It's hard to regard Ric Flair vs Hulk Hogan as a dream match these days, considering it's happened countless times over the past three decades or so. In 1991, Flair was regarded as the face of WCW/NWA, while Hogan was seen as the embodiment of the WWF. After several disagreements with Jim Herd, Flair was fired from WCW, leading to him signing a contract with the WWF. Fans had wanted to see the two champions of the world clash for years, and in 1991, they got what they wanted. The match first happened on TV in late 1991 and was presumably meant to test the chemistry and fit between the two wrestlers, possibly testing the waters for later plans. Apparently, Vince McMahon didn't like the match and decided to avoid making it a major feud on PPV in the federation, instead keeping it on the house show circuit instead. The match in question wasn't particularly bad or good, but given a bigger time slot and some build-up, it certainly could have sold seats. The match would have made a fantastic Wrestlemania main event, but the two never crossed paths on the main stage in the WWF. Fans got what they wanted with the dream match of Hogan vs Flair, but the scale, setting and length of the bout were all underwhelming. They'd go on to have more publicized bouts in WCW.
