WWE had wanted a Jackass-inspired bout of silliness for years before it finally happened at WrestleMania 38. Originally, some of the show's crew were supposed to wrestle (or "wrestle") Umaga at SummerSlam 2007. Those plans fell through, but Johnny Knoxville would make up for lost time in 2022.

Yep, a full 15 years later. If nothing else, that does show the true power of the Jackass phenomenon. There's been interest in this noise since day one, people. Knoxville had some hardcore fans groaning when he entered the 2022 Rumble though, and those same doubters rolled eyeballs when WWE set up JK vs. Zayn for 'Mania.

'Who's this actor coming in and stealing a spot from full-timers who've worked rea...wait, this is actually kinda good?!'. That was the general reaction to a masterclass of comedy and knowing your place on the card from Knoxville and Zayn on the grandest stage. Putting Sami in there vs. Johnny was a genius level move from whomever suggested it.

Talk about a surprise package.
