10 DUMB WWE Returns (We Didn't Want To Admit Were GENIUS!)

9. The Headbangers (2016)

Mosh! Thrasher! They're into goth culture and more nu-metal bands than you could name!

Of course, The Headbangers gimmick was a little too late-90s to fly with a younger crowd in 2016, but that didn't stop WWE from bringing the underrated 'Attitude Era' tag-team back for another whirl just to see what might happen. This was a solid idea, because nostalgia is one hell of a drug and SmackDown's tag division needed some legacy depth at the time.

Heath Slater and Rhyno were champs, for crying out loud. No offence intended to them, 'cause the unlikely lads were over as a squeezy cheese on crackers-loving duo who only wanted to help Heath take care of his kids, but they were never going to be a long-term pick in the title hot seat. Thus, Headbangers returned to bolster the ranks.

Mosh and Thrasher's comeback was far too brief. This writer might be biased, 'cause he was always a fan of the pair (not their "cones" though - that was a prop nobody needed!) and always thought they could've done more in WWE. Still, trying to lean on sentimentality and make fans say, 'Oh yeah, those guys' was a good idea.
