10 DUMB WWE Returns (We Didn't Want To Admit Were GENIUS!)

4. Big Show (2020)

Desperation does funny things to wrestling legends.

By 2020, Big Show realised opportunities were thin on the ground (so thin on the ground in real life that he'd leave WWE for AEW the next year), and so he had to make the most of every chance. After working some tag shots in January, Show targeted the biggest prize of all: Drew McIntyre's newly won WWE Title.

He gatecrashed Drew's victory celebrations at the mega-weird WrestleMania 36, and immediately challenged the hot Scot to put his belt on the line. If Show could win this, then all would be well. That was how WWE presented his story. It was actually really frenzied, and cast the giant as an erratic fading star who understood time was running out for him to make an impact.

Weirdly, WWE taped this match straight after McIntyre's triumph over Brock Lesnar but placed it on the Raw after 'Mania like it had happened then. News broke quickly that Drew vs. Show took place following WrestleMania though, which only heaped more desperation onto an already-urgent situation.

This past vs. present and future tale was arguably bungled, but it did more for Show than anything in the previous five years minimum.
