8. Edge Gets Kicked Out Of Judgment Day
It was awkward glances all round when Edge was booted out of his own Judgment Day faction mere months after debuting the group in 2022. Going from Edge to Finn Bálor as leader seemed like a slight downgrade, but WWE had something else in mind. Judgment Day would rely on overall balance rather than one iconic focal point.
That was an inspired change, in hindsight.
Fans in 2022 didn't have the benefit of hindsight though, so everyone eagerly quizzed the logic. Dominik Mysterio turning on his father to link up with Rhea Ripley, Bálor and Damian Priest also had some testing out their gag reflexes. How could the company willingly go from 'Rated R' to 'Dirty Dom' just like that!?
What seemed to be a huge mistake at the time turned out to be an excellent choice. JD went from strength to strength, and quickly became one of the top reasons to tune into flagship show Raw every week. Removing Edge from the equation let others like Rhea and Priest find their own voices.
