10 Dumbest Decisions Of WWE’s Attitude Era

1. D-Generation X In Blackface

D-Generation X were one of the biggest factions of all time. After Shawn Michaels left WWF, Triple H could have faded back into the midcard, but he assembled the DX Army and stormed the main event. They entered into a feud with the other major faction at the time, The Nation of Domination, a thinly-veiled black-power stable led by The Rock. The two teams would have some classic clashes, but the one most remembered and most celebrated is one of the most uncomfortable of all. On an episode of Raw Is War, The Rock€™s music hit only for Triple H and DX to come out dressed as The Nation, complete with blackface. It€™s all appalingly bad, but the worst is X-Pac who looks like he just used boot polish and puts on a regressive Fat Albert voice. It€™s one of the most offensive segments in WWE history, made worse by their refusal to recognise it as offensive, and their insistence on replaying it at every opportunity they get. Blackface is never acceptable, it has a long, storied history of being used to portray black people as incompetent, unintelligent and savage and the fact that it€™s still being celebrated by an internationally traded company in the year 2014 is mind-boggling. WWE have written so many things out of their history books, yet they€™ve kept this, one of the most offensive, stupid, tasteless things they€™ve ever done and held it aloft as a bright spot of comedy. The Attitude Era was full of regrettable moments, but none more than this.
