10 Dumbest Decisions Of WWE’s Attitude Era

9. Choppy Choppy

Val Venis was one of the most controversial and provocative characters from The Attitude Era. Reportedly, they had Sean Morley ready to go but he needed a character to fit in among the menagerie that was the WWF at the time. Vince McMahon asked Vince Russo to create a character for him, Russo thought Morley looked like a porn star, and so the Val Venis character was born. Morley€™s first big angle after debuting was against the evil Japanese stable Kai-En-Tai, after he slept with Shian-Li Tsang, the wife of the faction€™s leader Yamaguchi-San. Val Venis defeated a number of Kai-En-Tai€™s members before he was betrayed by Taka Michinoku, and abducted by the stable. He was taken backstage where Yamaguchi-San attempted to castrate him with a samurai sword. It was revealed the following week thanks to some timely shrinkage, Yamaguchi-San missed the mark and Venis was rescued by his good buddy John Wayne Bobbit. The whole scenario was never meant to be serious, but it ended up being even more ridiculous than intended. The worst part is of course the racist overtones of the feud, exemplified by the much parodied €œChoppy choppy your pee-pee€ line from earlier in the feud.
