During the main event of Brock Lesnar v Roman Reigns, after delivering a trademark suplex, the WWE Champion quipped audibly Suplex city, b****! In this increasingly connected social media age, all it takes is a small push for something to go viral in an instant, but few things in wrestling have caught on as quickly, in quite the same way. The quip was fun in itself, but a day later, Suplex City threatened to become the meme that ate itself, as the entire wrestling fandom scrambled over each other to create the funniest thing related to the quote. Creativity within fandoms should of course be encouraged, but the past two days have been a deluge of memes, Vines, and YouTube videos all capitalising on a kind of cool thing that Brock Lesnar said. WWE will need to be quick off the mark to take ownership of the phrase as theres already a plethora of unlicensed merchandise featuring the quote, and independent t-shirt vendors seemed to be in a mad dash to get the first Suplex City shirt available to the public. Everything cool in wrestling will eventually be run into the ground, but never has something went from badass to passe quite so quickly.
