10 Early Contenders To Win WWE Money In The Bank 2017

3. John Cena

Is there a more uninspiring pick for this year’s Money In The Bank than John Cena? Probably not, but this is exactly the kind of trick WWE likes to pull in situations like this. Having Cena win in June wouldn’t quite be as disappointing as Sheamus in 2015, but it’d still cause widespread frustration, and WWE would likely be wiser giving the win to a fresher wrestler.

For as long as he’s employed by the company, Cena will be considered for big spots, and understandably so. He has been WWE’s franchise player for a decade, and while his career is definitely on a downswing, he’ll still want to break the record he shares with Ric Flair. A 17th World Championship is almost certainly on his checklist, and before he retires, WWE will probably give him the opportunity to bag it.

Cena and fiancee Nikki Bella are currently on hiatus, but if he returns before Money In The Bank, he’ll be a heavy favourite. He’s never going to be the sole focus of WWE programming again, but he’s a guy the company love to death, and nobody should be surprised if he scores the briefcase.
