10 Early WWE Predictions For 2017

6. The Raw Women's Championship Plays Hot Potato

Charlotte’s initial run as WWE Divas/Women’s Champion lasted a combined 309 days, but the days of such long, drawn-out title reigns are over. Charlotte and Sasha Banks have tossed the belt back and forth four times since July 25th, with Charlotte’s Hell in a Cell victory bringing the third Women’s Title reign of her career. The title scene is incredibly turbulent, and it looks set to continue.

WWE are opting for multiple quickfire title reigns rather than long, dominant spells as champion, and with Ric Flair standing as a 16-time World Champion, WWE are likely trying to hit a comparable number with her daughter. This stage of her legacy will likely be defined by quantity rather than quality, as disappointing as it may seem.

Look for the belt to continue being passed around like a hot potato as a result. It won’t be long before Sasha re-emerges as a title challenger, and Bayley won’t be far behind her. Then there are wrestlers like Nia Jax and Dana Brooke, who have their flaws, but clearly have WWE’s backing, and will likely enter the title scene before long.

Charlotte will continue to play a starring role (and rightly so), but 2017’s Women’s Title scene will probably revolve around her amassing as many short reigns as possible without sacrificing her PPV record.
