10 Edge And Christian WWE Matches That Totally Reeked Of Awesomeness
6. The Dudley Boyz Vs. Edge And Christian (Royal Rumble 2001)
When one looks back at the history of Edge and Christian, the phrase "Tables, Ladders and Chairs" typically dominates the conversation, and rightfully so. But we will get to that in a moment. See, as important as those implements proved to be to the legacy of ol' E&C, they were not just stunt performers who excelled in those bouts. They were tremendously talented wrestlers capable of stealing the show from any spot on the card, in any sort of match. At the 2001 Royal Rumble, they kicked the show off with a phenomenal old-school wrestling match that saw then defend the WWE Tag Team Championships against The Dudley Boyz. They isolated the brothers from other mothers, cutting the ring off and working a style that was reminiscent of the great NWA tag bouts from the mid-to-late 80s. No matter how much they cheated or capitalized on previous injuries suffered by their opponents, they could not put away the determined challengers. The Dudley Boyz won the titles but, just as Edge and Christian had so many times before, they shone brightest. Their performance in the match confirmed why they were able to reign atop the tag division as its lead villains for the year that they did, unchallenged by other tandems the likes of The Right to Censor and T&A.
