An offscreen attempt at humour, but an embarrassing one nonetheless.

As relayed to the world by Paul London, a man who loathed the WWE system so much that it made him fall out of love with pro wrestling completely, Triple H played by the rules of his own game behind the scenes as much as he did on TV.

London in a 2013 Gerwick shoot interview claimed that Triple H was jealous of Rob Van Dam's natural charisma and likability. "Hunter is like that nerd that throws out a joke expecting the room to start laughing and ends up laughing at his own joke," London claimed.

"The fact of the matter is this," Triple H would say to set up the punchline.

In an attempt to undermine Van Dam, Triple H per London cracked a joke at Van Dam's expense by claiming that he must have the "munchies," and in addition to not going over well, much like one of every two of his WrestleMania matches, the embarrassment was compounded when Van Dam allegedly got in his face "when it was all said and done".

London reckons Triple H cowered and back-tracked.
