10 Epic Moments The Undertaker Broke Character In WWE
4. Saying Goodbye To Ric Flair
In protecting his status as WWE's most enigmatic character, The Undertaker has rarely appeared on broadcasts like the Hall Of Fame. He doesn't even really appear much on any of WWE's television, and when he does, it is always in character. He doesn't give anything away. But when Ric Flair retired back in 2008, The Undertaker broke character and came out during Flair's Raw retirement farewell. His appearance happened after Raw went off the air, but the footage did roll out on wwe.com to ensure everyone saw it. The initial tease was that he was out as The Undertaker character, but upon getting in the ring and standing in front of Flair he dropped the act. As Mark Calaway he shook Flair's hand and then hugged for a long time. During this, he whispered some words of appreciation to Flair. There were tears in his eyes and it was all very emotional. Taker then went back into character to do his trademark knee bow, but transitioned it into being just a respectful bow. Going back to his feet, he raised Flair's hand and then departed the ring. Stood at ringside, he then applauded as tears started filling in his eyes. It was a sight that is a million times removed from The Undertaker character.
