WWE love trotting out old Hell In A Cell competitors to sell the match’s supposed danger every time the pay-per-view rolls around, and it was Shawn Michaels’ turn to play this role in 2015. Appearing on an episode of Raw that October, HBK showed-up to hype a forthcoming HIAC bout between The Undertaker (whom he faced in the match’s very first incarnation), and Brock Lesnar.

WWE Champion Seth Rollins soon interrupted him, and the two immediately went face-to-face. Seth’s forced stoicism quickly turned to a trademark smirk, and after running HBK down, Rollins called himself 'Shawn Michaels 2.0,' stating he was an upgrade on the original, and that his accomplishments would soon dwarf those of the WWE Hall of Famer’s.

Michaels responded by booking him in a match with Ryback, but that was the extent of it. Though the stare-down broke into a spot of verbal sparring almost immediately, it never led to anything bigger down the line - a shame, as Rollins vs. HBK is high on many a wrestling fan’s dream match wish list.

Shawn has thus far resisted the temptation to sully his epic 2010 retirement, but this moment had fans buzzing for a potential comeback.
