10 Events That Led To The Demise Of WCW

9. Fingerpoke Of Doom

The next poor decision came only one week after the previous. Following Goldberg€™s loss at Starrcade, Kevin Nash was scheduled to defend his title against a returning Hollywood Hulk Hogan. At the time, Nash was the leader of the face nWo Wolfpac group (another reason Nash winning against Goldberg by using a taser made little sense), while Hogan was the leader of the heel nWo Hollywood. The match saw Hogan and Nash standing face-to-face in the ring, only for Hogan to poke Nash in the chest. Nash over-sold the fingerpoke and fell to the canvas, allowing Hogan to recapture the title. The two reformed the original nWo and fans were left dissatisfied with the main event. This type of booking would become almost omnipresent in WCW during the final years, where advertised main events would often not take place and pointless plot swerves would dominate the decision-making process.
