5. The End Of WCW Monday Jericho

There were few homegrown talents in WCW during the 90s. Instead the company chose to sign well-known stars (most of whom had competed in WWF earlier in their careers) as a way to establish legitimacy. One of the most popular homegrown WCW stars was Chris Jericho. Jericho was not only one of the best in-ring performers the company had ever seen, he was also unmatched on the microphone. Although Jericho never captured the companys top prize, he helped make the Cruiserweight and Television Championships seem important and was a staple on Nitro. There is some speculation that Jericho left the company because they refused to book him against Goldberg, but nonetheless, he eventually signed with WWF and became one of the most memorable characters of the Attitude Era. Jericho was the first of many young talents to leave the company, sticking WCW with an older lot of wrestlers who were mostly past their prime.
