10 Events That Led To The Demise Of WCW

2. nWo Wolfpac

BeFunky_nwo_group_article_2 After the initial nWo had run its course, the company hoped to ride the wave of popularity just a little longer by splitting the group into two rival factions, the nWo Wolfpac and nWo Hollywood. The Wolfpac was the face group that splintered away from the initial stable, while nWo Hollywood was led by Hulk Hogan and remained heel. Although the Wolfpac was fairly popular with fans, never has a dead horse been so savagely beaten. Wrestlers shifting from one group to the next on a weekly basis and storylines that largely went nowhere are characteristics of this era in WCW. Like many other events that occurred around the same time, the goal was not to build a long-term storyline that kept fans invested, but simply to increase exposure by having guys put on a different color t-shirt. Fans eventually became disinterested and the nWo lost a great deal of influence.
