The tail end of 2007 in Vince McMahon's empire was dominated by the twisting and turning narrative surrounding exactly who the boss' on-screen illegitimate son was. They were simpler times.

All signs seemed to be pointing towards the loudest mouth currently signed to a WWE contract being revealed as McMahon's long lost offspring. But an ill-timed Wellness Policy Violation for Mr. Kennedy soon saw an already inconsistent push get stifled once again.

With McMahon already investing so much time and effort into building Kennedy up to be one of the company's next breakout superstars - even gifting him with his own middle name, dammit! - it looked as though Kennedy would still have a part to play in the grand scheme of things... so long as he kept himself out of trouble going forward.

Sure enough, one particularly reckless back body drop to Randy Orton in 2009 later, Kennedy was once again in the doghouse. This time, faced with a brassed off Viper and Super Cena calling for his head, McMahon had no choice but to wave goodbye to his one-time future king.
