News that Scott Steiner was coming to WWE in 2002 was met with excitement both inside the company and out.

In fact, respective Raw and SmackDown general managers Eric Bischoff and Stephanie McMahon spent the better part of a month competing to land his signature. Surely, then, the company had big things planned for one of the few bright spots of latter-day WCW?
