The Moment: Burned by an unflattering run in 2014, Batista would've been forgiven for thinking his WWE career had ended. The Hollywood star was making waves in film anyway, but he still had that nagging need to work one more match, and make it a satisfying experience.

During SmackDown 1000 on 16 October 2018, big Dave appeared as part of Evolution alongside his old running buddies Triple H, Ric Flair and Randy Orton. As he teased friction with 'The Game', Batista started to realise there was fan interest in one more match between the pair.

The Return: So, that became the plan.

Batista returned to TV by attacking birthday boy Flair on the 25 February 2019 Raw and marched towards a WrestleMania 35 showdown with Hunter. The day after that event, Dave revealed on Twitter that he'd just worked his last match, and thanked fans for their support.

He got to end his WWE career on his own terms, and with a smile on his face rather than bitter regrets.
