D-Generation X jokers Shawn Michaels and Triple H probably thought they were just working a fun comedy skit on the 27 November 2006 episode of Raw. There, the DX twosome packed The Spirit Squad into a production crate and sent them off to Ohio Valley Wrestling.

Back to development for you lads!

Incredibly, for three of the five members, this turned out to be a shoot situation. Johnny, Mitch and Mikey were barely seen on WWE television afterwards; Mikey did make a brief return as part of a reprise (The Miz brought he and Kenny Dykstra back to antagonise Dolph Ziggler) in 2016, but that was a cameo-type deal and very short-lived.

Nobody really knew it at the time, but HBK and Trips were legitimately ending some careers on Raw that night. Johnny and Mitch, in particular, would never see the big time again. Their WWE runs came to a screeching halt within a matter of seconds.
