His old partner was unpredictable too, and it p*ssed people off backstage.

Big Cass has rebounded in AEW, and Big Bill's in a much better place personally. That's great to see, but his self-destructive behaviour played before shaking heads and disappointment between early-to-mid-2018. Cass acted up during an international tour, then decided to totally ignore direct instructions from Vince McMahon.

On the 1 May 2018 SmackDown, Vince told his heel monster not to beat up an extra posing as Daniel Bryan. The key word there is "not", but Cass did it anyway. That was a massive mistake. Not only had he ignored company creative, but Cass had insulted McMahon's own personal decree, and that wasn't going to end well for him.

Cass eventually put Bryan over at Money In The Bank in June, then got released from his contract just a few days after the pay-per-view. To his credit, the dude has acknowledged what a shaky place he was in mentally at the time, and has taken ownership of his problems.
